  All armors strength is based on the rarity and toughness of the block they are based on. For example wooden armor is weaker than obsidian armor. Another example is that Cobblestone armor is stronger than Glass armor.

All Armors are crafted with the Basic Armor Recipe 

(Amethyst Is Just the example, replace this recipe's ingredients with any of the previously stated blocks to craft that armor)
